ヤキカーゲン is derived from 焼き加減 (yaki kagen), which means "doneness" as in how well-done a piece of meat is. ヤキカーゲン楽士 - Musician Yakikagen - Musician Beef-Clef Hence, the E in my translation is meant to be pronounced as a long "E". キーチム is an imperfect anagram of キムチ, or kimchi. ウルテ refers to the trachial rings, or the cartilagenous parts of the windpipe, which are often served grilled or in stews. 錬金術師ウルテ - Alchemist Urute - Alchemist Leanman ハーチノス is derived from ハチノス, meaning honeycomb tripe. ハーチノス司祭 - Priest Harchinosu - Scribe Shanky The レバ in his name is derived from レバー, liver. ユッケ is the Japanese rendition of the Korean dish yukhoe. フィーレ姫 - Princess Fillet - Princess Fillet Together, the names of the King and Queen form a a reference to Chateaubriand steak. Named after Miyamoto Musashi, of course! Order: Kana or kanji - my translation - official translation, with any of my notes on it in the next line. Since, again, there's already enough of that, I'll just point out other things I've noticed or got from BFM's Japanese Wikipedia page. First, the characters of Brave Fencer Musashi, since there isn't much on the Japanese version in the English-speaking world, except for typical stuff about censorship of alcohol references. Today, I decided to show off some of what I've learned. So, something I like to do is look for Japanese info on video games and see what was different between versions, which is usually pretty interesting.
